This is my way of making Magazine Gift Bows. You can use any type of material like newspaper, scrapbook paper, food labels, an old measuring tape – just about anything!
It took me a few tried to get the bows looking right – so don’t get discouraged!
This tutorial is heavy with images, but images help me learn, so I hope they help you learn as well.

SUPPLIES
Supplies
* Magazine Pages
* Scissors
* Pencil
* Ruler
* Paper Fastener
* Stitch Ripper
Optional (but highly recommended): Rotary Cutter & Cutting Mat
STEP ONE
Step 1
Cut your magazine into 8 strips:
1 strip = 3 inches x .75 inch
7 strips = 7 inches x .75 inch
STEP 2
Step 2
Roll the 3 inch piece around your thumb (not too tight!)
Poke a hole (with stitch ripper) through the bottom layers of the tube you created.
STEP 3
Step 3
Poke your paper fastener through the hole you created. This 3 inch piece is only to hide the paper fastener when your bow is finished.
STEP 4

Take one of your 7 inch strips and hold it so the main color you want your bow to be is facing away from you. “Bend” the top to the right. You will bring the end of the magazine on the right to just about the middle of the strip.

Turn the strip around so the long tail is away from you.

Now do the same to the tail that you did in step 4.

Poke a hole in the middle of your folded strip and place onto your paper fastener (as below.)
Step 7 - Part 2
STEP 8
Keep repeating steps 4 – 7 on your remaining strips. Turn the bow about 1/4 turn each time you add on a new strip.

LAST STEP!
Turn your bow over, fold down the fastener & voila! A great bow for a gift!
